Buffalo, NY - Freshman Ashley Carney has had an unbelievable start to her career as a D'Youville Spartan, turning in a great first week for the team during their spring training in Florida.
Through the team's first four games this season, Carney is batting .727 with a .750 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. In her first career collegiate game against Lawrence on Saturday, Carney went 4-4, including scoring two runs.
Ashley has safely reached base in all four games this season, two games of which were multi-hit games. She also has one stolen base and one RBI with three runs, a double and a triple. Carney currently leads the team in batting average, hits, runs and is tied for first in walks, triples and doubles.
At Clarence High School, Carney played softball where she was an All-ECIC First Team selection in 2015 and an All-ECIC Second Team selection in 2016. She also earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2016.
Ashley is a Nursing major and the daughter of April and John Carney.
