Buffalo, NY - Senior Hannah Turek of the D'Youville softball team had another impressive week for the Spartans both at the plate and on the mound, helping them pick up two big victories.
Turek picked up two wins this past week, with the first coming against Alfred State on Tuesday. Over 7.0 innings, Hannah pitched a complete game shutout with six strikeouts and just three hits allowed. She also added an RBI in the 6-0 win.
On Saturday against Pitt.-Greensburg, Hannah saw action in each game. She started game one and only gave up one run in the loss. Over 7.0 innings she struck out two and gave up nine hits. In game two, Turek came in for 3.0 innings of relief to strike out three and pick up the win. She also scored the game winning run in a walk-off effort.
Hannah leads the team in every pitching statistic and is third in the AMCC in complete games (12), fourth in innings pitched (109.0), fifth in strikeouts (60) and tied for fifth in wins (8). At the plate, Turek is second on the team in batting average (.329) and first in RBI (18).
In her junior season of 2016, Hannah was an AMCC Second Team All-Conference selection. She led the team with 45 hits and was second with 27 RBI. Her .349 batting average was the best of her career.
At Lancaster High School, Turek swam and played softball for four years each. She was a First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Conference selection at Lancaster for softball.
Hannah is a Business Management major and the daughter of Adele and Mark Turek.
