Buffalo, NY - Freshman Lauren Karoglan had an outstanding beginning to her career with the D'Youville women's tennis team, picking up points for the Spartans in both matches over the weekend.
In two matches against Fredonia and Penn State-Behrend over the weekend, Lauren went 4-0 in all of her matches. Beginning with the team's match on Friday against Fredonia, Karoglan was matched up in the number one singles match and thrived, winning her match 6-3, 6-7, 1-0. She then was put in the top doubles pairing for the Spartans and took down the Blue Devil's top doubles pairing 8-5 with partner Gillian Wittig.
On Saturday against Penn State-Behrend, the freshman played a big role in the team getting their first win since the 2014 season. Karoglan again was the top singles player for D'Youville and defeated the Lion's top player by the score of 6-3, 7-6. She then again paired with Wittig to take down the top doubles pairing for Behrend 8-5. Out of four opportunities to get points for her team this past weekend, Lauren earned four points.
At Orchard Park High School, Lauren Tennis had an extremely successful tennis career. Over her five years with the team, Karoglan was an ECIC and Section VI Doubles Champion, qualified for four consecutive NYS Championships, and was 2016 Doubles Consolation Champion in Girl's NYS High School Tennis Championship.
Lauren is a Nursing major at D'Youville and the daughter of Denise and Anton Karoglan.
