Buffalo, NY - With a big win on Saturday afternoon, the D'Youville men's volleyball team got back on the right track as they head into the second half of their schedule.
Sophomore middle blocker Ali Khadra came up big for the Spartans in the team's 3-2 win over former conference rival Keuka on Saturday. Khadra led the team with a season high 12 kills and tying a season high four blocks in the non-conference win.
Ali is third on the team in kills/set (1.78) and kills (87) while ranking first on the team in hitting percentage (.267) and second in blocks/set (0.63) and blocks (31). He has at least five kills in 11 matches with two or more blocks in 10 matches - including the last eight matches.
As a freshman last season, Khadra stepped in and made a huge impact on the team. He led team in hitting percentage (.302), blocks (71), and blocks/set (0.86) while finishing second in kills (160) and kills/set (1.93) as well as third in service aces (18) and service aces/set (0.22). He recorded career highs with 14 kills and nine blocks. By season's end he was named an AMCC Second Team All-Conference selection.
At Williamsville East High School, Ali swam for three years, played one year of basketball and for years of volleyball. In volleyball he was his team's Most Valuable Player, All WNY, and ECIC II First Team. He played club volleyball for Lockport Volleyball Club.
At D'Youville, Ali is a Pre-Dental major. He is the son of Wiam and Zeina Khadra.
