Buffalo, NY - Freshman guard Sara Pfeiffer of the D'Youville women's basketball team has had an impressive start to her Spartan career, contributing largely to the team's 68-53 victory over Mount Aloysius on Wednesday.
Pfeiffer scored 19 points on 7-15 shooting from the field and 4-10 shooting from three in the win over the Mounties in Mount Aloysius on Wednesday afternoon. She added five rebounds, three assists, and three steals in her first career start with D'Youville. Sara transferred into D'Youville this semester.
It was Sara's second game with the team but she showcased her scoring abilities in her first game against La Roche as she scored 18 points with two rebounds and two steals. Through two games, Pfeiffer is averaging 18.5 PPG, 43.8% field goal %, 3.5 RPG. 2.5 SPG. and 1.5 SPG.
Scoring at a high rate is not new for Preiffer as she is the all-time leading scorer at Olean High School for men and women’s basketball. She holds the single-game scoring record with 63 points and has scored over 2,000 points in her career at Olean.
Amongst her awards, Sara has been named Big-30 First Team, Big-30 Co-Player of the Year, All-WNY Top 25 First Team, and Class B Player of the Year.
On why she chose to enroll at D’Youville, Sara said the school was “a really good school academically and the family feel with the basketball team.” She is a Psychology major.
Sara is the daughter of Ron and Sue Pfeiffer.
