Buffalo, NY - Sophomore guard Will Saunders had an impressive first game for the D'Youville men's basketball team against La Roche on Saturday.
Saunders was tied for second on the team with 17 points, adding five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in his team debut. Will was strong from all areas of the court as he went 7-15 (50%) from the field and 3-7 (42.9%) from three on the way to scoring his 17 points.
A transfer from Medaille, Will played a big role for the Mavericks as a freshman in 2018-19. Saunders averaged 7.7 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 3.1 APG, shot 43.1 % from the field, and 37.5% from three. In addition, he started 12 of 26 games played with an average of 19.7 MPG.
Throughout his freshman season, Will tallied 80 assists - tied for the team best. He scored in double-figures eight times and scored a career-high 17 points once.
Will is a graduate of Euclid High School in Cleveland, OH.
