Buffalo, NY - Freshman guard/forward Haley Kirisits of the D'Youville women's basketball team had another big week for the Spartans, helping the women earn their first conference win of the season.

Last Wednesday against the reigning conference champion Hilbert Hawks, Kirisits led the team with 18 points in the 60-47 victory. She shot an outstanding 8-12 from the field in 38 minutes to go with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

The freshman currently leads the team with 11.5 PPG and 7.2 RPG through six career games - five of which she has started. Her 46.7 FG% leads the team as well with Haley scoring double-figures in four of six games this season.

At Lancaster High School, Haley played four years of basketball and four years of softball. In basketball, Kirisits was named her team MVP and was an ECIC Second Team selection. She also played club basketball for Full Court Hoops and club softball for the WNY Sting.

On why she chose D'Youville, Haley said "D'Youville feels like home. It has a great program for the job I want to pursue. Everyone is very kind and helpful. I wanted to be a part of the basketball program and better myself through it. The coaches and players are very welcoming and make me feel like part of the family."

Haley is a Psychology major and the daughter of Susan and Jeffery Kirisits.
