Buffalo, NY - Following his first double-double of the season, senior forward Juan Miguel Rosales of the D'Youville men's basketball team has been an important player for the men as the team begins it's conference schedule.
Rosales recorded his first double-double of the season in the five-point loss to Alfred State last Tuesday. Juan recorded a team-high 11 rebounds to go with 17 rebounds and four blocks against the Pioneers. He shot 50% from the field, going 8-16.
Through five games this season, Juan leads the team with 6.4 RPG and is fifth on the team with 8.6 PPG. His 47.4 FG% leads the team as well with 1.2 BPG is also tops on the team. Each of the five games that Juan has played in this year have been starts.
Prior to taking a year off in 2018-19, Rosales was a major piece of the team in 2017-18. Juan was second on the team in scoring with 12.7 PPG and third in rebounding with 6.3 RPG. His 55.3 FG% was also first on the team as Juan was a major producer for the men at both ends of the court.
In his second year as a Spartan, Rosales was named the team's Most Improved Player as he led the team with a 48.9 FG%, was fourth on the team in scoring and rebounding. He also recorded his first career double-double that season.
At his high school of Village School in Guatemala, Juan played three years of basketball where he was named Guatemala City Player of the Year and played baseball as well. He was a three-on-three u18 National Champion and played for GMS in the Guatemalan League.
In 2014, Rosales played in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games with the Guatemalan National Team in China.
Juan is a Biology major and the son of Johanna Melendez and Carlos Rosales.
