Buffalo, NY - Junior Darrius Hartzog of the D'Youville men's basketball team had a big week for the Spartans, hitting a season high in scoring.
Hartzog tallied a season high 26 points in the team's five-point loss to Medaille last Wednesday. The junior guard went 10-15 from the field and 6-8 from three on his way to a season best scoring performance. He also added three rebounds and four steals.
On Saturday against La Roche, Darrius added nine points and tied a season high with seven rebounds in the loss to the first place Redhawks. He registered two steals and an assist.
Darrius is experiencing his best career season as a Spartan with a career high 12.9 points/game. In addition, his 2.7 rebounds/game, 1.7 steals/game, 13 games started, and 23.8 minutes/game are all career highs.
The 12.9 points/game Hartzog averages are tied for second on the team while he leads the team from long distance with a 43.3 three-point percentage. His 1.7 steals/game are also second on the team.
In 18 games played this year, Darrius has scored double-figures in 12 of them. He has eclipsed 20 points three times with tallies of 22, 21, and 26. The junior has nine games of multiple steals and has two ore more in each of the last six games - three of which are four-steal games.
At Wilson Magnet High School, Hartzog played four years of basketball with one year of football and track.
Darrius is an Exercise and Sports Studies major and the son of Thelma Haywood and Derrick Hartzog.
