Buffalo, NY - Freshman guard Sara Pfeiffer of the D'Youville women's basketball team had anther prolific scoring week for the Spartans, helping them advance to the AMCC semifinals.

Sara began the week with 27 points on Tuesday evening as the women defeated the Penn State-Altoona Lions 79-69 at home in the first round of the AMCC playoffs. Pfeiffer added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the win over the Lions.

In the AMCC semifinals on Saturday against Hilbert, Pfeiffer scored 17 points with three rebounds and two assists in the final game of the season for the women. She averaged 22.0 points/game in her first two career playoff games.

In 15 of the 16 games that Sara played this season, she scored in double-figures while scoring 18 points or more in 12 of those games. She hit at least one three in every game but one during her freshman season as she proved to be the team's most dangerous scorer.

Scoring at a high rate is not new for Preiffer as she is the all-time leading scorer at Olean High School for men and women’s basketball. She holds the single-game scoring record with 63 points and has scored over 2,000 points in her career at Olean.

Amongst her awards, Sara has been named Big-30 First Team, Big-30 Co-Player of the Year, All-WNY Top 25 First Team, and Class B Player of the Year.

On why she chose to enroll at D’Youville, Sara said the school was “a really good school academically and the family feel with the basketball team.” She is a Psychology major.

Sara is the daughter of Ron and Sue Pfeiffer.
