Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in conference and 5-3 overall this past weekend with their all-conference striker leading the way.
Junior forward Makenna Magee continued her hot start to conference play by adding to her season goal total on Saturday. Magee scored the opening goal for the Spartans in the 8th minute in the 2-1 victory over La Roche as D’Youville moved to 2-0 in conference play. Makenna totaled two shots in the game, both of which were on goal.
The goal was her second in as many conference games as she has started the conference schedule strong. She leads the team with four goals and eight points while is tied for second in shots with 11. She is also tied for fifth in the conference with four goals.
Through her two years as a Spartan, Magee has been one of the best attacking players in the conference. She is a 2017 and 2018 AMCC Second Team All-Conference selection in addition to her honors of AMCC Newcomer of the Year in her freshman year of 2017.
In each of her two seasons, Makenna has led the team in goals and points. She is an extremely efficient scorer as she totaled six goals on 20 shots on goal as a freshman, five goals on 12 shots on goal as a sophomore, and four goals on eight shots on goal as a junior this season.
At Northern Adirondack High School, Makenna played four years of soccer and was named League MVP and was a First Team All-Star. Magee was a four-sport athlete as she played two years of tennis and softball, earning First Team All-Star honors in tennis and was an Honorable Mention in softball. In addition, she played two years of basketball.
An Exercise and Sports Studies undergrad major at D'Youville, Makenna is on track to enter the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program following the completion of the ESS program with the career goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.
Magee is the daughter of Gary and Gwen Magee. Her sister Magan played four years on the women's soccer team, including two with Makenna.
