AMCC Announces Basketball Pre-Season Polls

Buffalo, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2017-18 men and women's basketball pre-season polls Monday morning, providing a peek into the conference schedule for both D'Youville basketball teams.

Men's Basketball

Finishing just outside the playoff picture last season, the D'Youville men's basketball team was selected to finish sixth in the AMCC as voted on by opposing coaches. After tying for second last season, La Roche and Penn State-Behrend are pegged to finish one and two in the standings with the Redhawks taking the top spot. Medaille (3), Hilbert (4), and Penn State-Altoona (5) took the other top six spots before the Spartans.

Junior guard Jeremy VanDuluitgaarden and junior forward Jake Socha were selected as players to watch for the Spartans in conference play. The two finished as the leading scorers for D'Youville last season, with VanDuluitgaarden earning AMCC Third Team All-Conference honors.

The men open their season on Friday, November 17 vs. Alfred University at 5:00pm with the game being played at Alfred State. Their first home game of the season comes on Monday, November 20 as the men host Wells at 6:00pm.

Women's Basketball

With a young roster and plenty to prove in 2017-18, the D'Youville women's basketball team was selected to finish ninth in the AMCC this coming season. La Roche was voted to take their eighth straight AMCC title and the favorites to win the regular season title. Pitt.-Bradford (2), Medaille (3), Penn State-Behrend (4), Mount Aloysius (5), and Penn State-Altoona (6) finish out the top six.

Senior guard Hannah Simone and junior forward Darian Evans were picked as players to watch for D'Youville. Simone was second on the team in scoring in 2016-17 with 8.2 PPG while Evans was second on the team with 5.8 RPG and fifth with 6.5 PPG. 

The women open their season on Wednesday, November 15 at Keuka at 8:00pm. Their first home game of the season comes on Monday, November 20 as the women host Wells at 8:00pm.
