Buffalo, NY - D'Youville and Director of Athletics Brian Cavanaugh are pleased to announce the promotion of Ona Halladay from Assistant Director of Athletics to Associate Director of Athletics.
"I am excited to continue my work in the athletic department at D'Youville," said Halladay. "The support that we have received from Dr. Clemo, Randy Bowen, and the rest of the leadership team as well as the college community has made this a great place for athletes to compete at a high level while also getting a great education."
Halladay has been with D'Youville since August of 2013 as she came on as Senior Woman Administrator, Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance Director, and head softball coach. As a coach, Ona has compiled a record 86-78. In 2015 and 2016, Halladay led the program to the AMCC Championship game and two AMCC regular season titles. In each of her six years in charge of the program, Halladay has at least one all-conference player. In total she has had 17 all-conference awards and two AMCC Coach of the Year awards.
As an administrator, Ona has continued to become a larger and larger part of the D'Youville community. She has been appointed Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee by D'Youville President Dr. Lorrie Clemo in addition to her duties as Graduate Assistant Coordinator and site supervisor. She also serves as Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) coordinator.
In 2010, Halladay graduated from SUNY Brockport with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. A two-time All-SUNYAC softball selection as a member of the Golden Eagles, Ona began her collegiate career playing at St. John's University for two seasons where she was a two year letter winner.
Following her graduation from Brockport in 2010, Halladay joined the St. Bonaventure coaching staff as an assistant coach under Mike Threehouse. In the spring of 2018, Ona graduated from Canisius College with her Masters in Sports Administration.
As she embarks on her new role within the department, Halladay embraces those who helped her reach new heights and looks forward to doing the same for the institution.
"I'd like to thank Director of Athletics, Brian Cavanaugh, and the athletic staff for their constant support and passion for athletics," said Halladay. "It is what keeps me motivated, but more importantly, they are the ones who have been an integral part of providing our athletes with a great D'Youville athletic experience. I am proud to be a Spartan."
