The Week Ahead: D'Youville Athletics 1/13/19 - 1/19/19

Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville basketball season continues to roll on as the women have three conference games this week and the men have two. Men's Volleyball begins their 2019 season with their first tournament of the season, beginning this weekend. Practices for softball, baseball, and women's lacrosse all inch closer as the D'Youville Athletics begins to pick up the pace in the new semester.


Women's Basketball

Monday, January 14 @ Medaille - 6:00pm

  • The women take on the rival Medaille Mavericks on Monday with D'Youville (3-3) in fifth place in the AMCC and Medaille in ninth (1-6)
  • D'Youville is coming off a pair of conference wins last week with a 80-65 victory over Penn State-Behrend and a 70-66 overtime victory over Mount Aloysius
  • Medaille is 1-5 in their last six games with their lone win coming out of conference over Alfred State (77-67)
  • The Mavericks won both meetings against the Spartans last season

Wednesday, January 16 @ Pitt.-Bradford - 6:00pm

  • Bradford has lost each of their last three games
  • The Panthers are currently one spot (sixth) behind the Spartans in the conference standings with a 4-4 conference record
  • D'Youville suffered a pair of losses to Bradford last season
  • The Spartans are averaging 69.3 PPG this season compared to the 64.7 PPG from the Panthers

Saturday, January 19 vs. Pitt.-Greensburg - 1:00pm

  • Greensburg sits one position in front of D'Youville in the conference standings in third place
  • In their two meeting last season, the Spartans took game one 53-50 while the Bobcats took game two 78-76 in overtime
  • The Bobcats have the leading rebounder in the conference at 12.1 RPG but the Spartans have the second leading rebounder in Danielle Hore (9.7 RPG)


Men's Basketball

Wednesday, January 16 @ Pitt.-Bradford - 8:00pm

  • Bradford (2-6) trails D'Youville (3-4) in the standings but sit right behind them in eighth place
  • D'Youville has played all five of their games since returning from winter break tightly with two one-point games, one two-point game, one three-point game, and one five-point game
  • The Panthers have lost three of their last four games, going 1-2 in conference play
  • The two teams split the season series last season as D'Youville took game one in blowout fashion 104-79 and Bradford taking game two by a narrow margin, 81-79

Saturday, January 19 vs. Pitt.-Greensburg - 3:00pm

  • Greensburg sits in ninth place in the conference at 1-6 through seven games played, the only other team in the conference to play seven games like D'Youville
  • The Bobcats took both games from the Spartans last season
  • D'Youville has players in the top-five in the conference in scoring (first), rebounding (fourth), field goal percentage (fifth), and three point percentage (third and fifth)
