Baseball Closes 2014 Season

Buffalo, NY-The D'Youville College baseball season came to a close with a pair of losses at Medaille College.

In the opener, Medaille halted D'Youville 2-0 wasting a great effort from Spartans' starting pitcher Kyle Taylor (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster). Taylor tossed a complete game and allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits and a pair of walks.

D'Youville couldn't get it going on offense. The Spartans had just four hits and were 0-5 with runners in scoring position. The best chance to help Taylor came in the sixth when D'Youville loaded the bases with one out.

In the nightcap, Garatt Kerr (London, Ontario/Regina Mundi) opened the game's scoring with a two-run double in the first but Medaille answered with a seven spot in the bottom of the frame and never looked back in a 9-4 win.

The other Spartan spark on offense came on a Joel Paulino (Washington Heights, NY/West Side) pinch-hit two-run double in the seventh.
