AMCC Names Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams

Buffalo, NY-The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced the recipients of their 2014 spring sports All-Sportsmanship squads.

Representing softball was senior Shannon Evans (Cheektowaga, NY/East Aurora). Junior Mikiah Downing (Westpark, NY/Highland) was the Spartans' selection for baseball. Freshman Nathaniel Damon (South Wales, NY/Iroquois) received the nod for men's tennis. Junior Steve Goedtel (Eden, NY/Eden) was the men's volleyball selection for the second-straight year.

The student-athletes named to the All-Conference Sportsmanship Team were selected by their peers. Recipients have consistently demonstrated a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship was evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and fans. He/She must also have served as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams' sporting events.

Women's Cross Country: Maria Fusco (Clifton Park, PA/Shenendehowa)

Men's Cross Country: Anthony Oliveri (Wheatfield, NY/Niagara–Wheatfield)

Women's Soccer: Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield)

Men's Soccer: Tyler Beach (Niagara, NY/ Niagara Wheatfield)

Women's Tennis: Jessica Lampka (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster)

Men's Basketball: Jon Gemerek (Lancaster, NY/Depew)

Women's Basketball: Sarah Marino (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy)
