Shortstop Justin Varney (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) is one of the team's top players as a sophomore as he finished fourth in hits (24) and runs scored (15) as a freshman in 2018.

Juniors Adam Lampman (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) and Bryce Little (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) will lead the pitching staff this season as the top arms in the rotations for D'Youville. Little pitched in 12.1 innings last year, but his innings will jump dramatically from there. He also tied for first in wins (1) on the team.

Several other veteran players will play key roles for the men in the upcoming season. Senior Matt Critelli (Camden, NY/Camden) will be asked to pitch more this season but his arm and his bat can be crucial pieces to the team. Junior Brendan Burke (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) will again man the hot corner and be asked to produce at the plate. Senior Khaled Numan-Ali (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) brings speed and an outstanding glove in the outfield.

Senior Devon Kelly (Rochester, NY/Olympia) is another baserunning threat with a solid glove at second. Junior infielder Matt Guenther (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) had a strong ending to his sophomore season and provides consistency in the field.

Sophomore Nick Jank (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) will contribute heavily this season on the mound while fellow sophomore Renato Quinones (Lockport, NY/Saint Joe's) is primed for a breakout second season. In addition, sophomores Kevin Sanders (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) and Logan Lipowski (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) will have opportunities to earn playing time in 2019.

As for the freshmen, Shane Critelli (Camden, NY/Camden) will bring a big presence to the Spartan's lineup while Alex Liem (Dorchester, Ont./Dorchester Secondary) will see time behind the plate and is expected to be a big part of the team's defense and lineup. Pitcher Derek Mosher (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) will be counted on for big innings as a freshman and will be a large part of the team's rotation.

The Spartans finished 4-24 last season and a 1-17 record in conference. In this year's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) preseason poll, the Spartans were pegged to finish 10th in the conference this season. However, D'Youville is hungry to prove the entire conference wrong.
