Buffalo, NY-The story of the breakout season D'Youville College center Julian Reed has put together thus far added another chapter when the Spartan was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
In the two games D'Youville played between November 25-December 1, Reed averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.5 blocked shots.
November 26 against Fredonia State, Reed totaled 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots. November 30 versus RIT, Reed scored a career-high 19 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and blocked 3 shots.
In the first six games of the 2013-14 season the Spartan's six-foot eight inch third-year center has averaged 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.8 blocked shots. From the floor Reed is shooting 43.5% percent (27-62) and 87% from the line (21-24).
In his first two collegiate seasons, Reed played in 51 games and averaged 2.8 points, 2.9 blocked shots, and 1.2 blocked shots per game while shooting 30.4% from the floor and 48.6% from the free-throw line.
"Julian is one of our hardest working players," said D'Youville College Head Coach Earl Schunk. "He came to us with almost no previous basketball experience and has made himself into a threat on both ends of the floor."
D'Youville will begin AMCC play December 4 at Penn State Behrend. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m.
