Reed Named AMCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year

Buffalo, NY-An exclamation point was placed at the end of the remarkable season D'Youville College center Julian Reed(Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) put together in 2013-14 when he was named by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference as their men's basketball Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Reed led the AMCC and will finish third among all NCAA Division III players in total blocks (95) and blocked shots per game (3.80). In 18 conference games, Reed finished sixth among AMCC players in total rebounding at 8.2 per game and was third in the league in defensive rebounds (6.1 per game).

It was a breakout season for the six-foot eight-inch center. Over his first two seasons, Reed averaged 2.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. This season the Spartans' center went for 14 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game.

"Julian has improved more over the course of one season than any player I have coached in my 33 years," stated Spartans' Head coach Earl Schunk. "He was a force defensively, especially in neutralizing the opponent's post players. I look for really big things from him in his senior season."
