Rochester, NY - The D'Youville men's basketball team suffered a 105-67 loss to the RIT Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
RIT got out ahead of the Spartans early on in the game, leading 10-3 after 3:30 of play. As play continued, Darrius Hartzog (Rochester, NY/Wilson Magnet) scored eight consecutive points for the men as they drew to within five as they trailed 16-11. A three from the Tigers would make their lead eight, but D'Youville would pull to within three after a Wanya Bruce (Rochester, NY/Fairport) three.
Through the middle of the first half, D'Youville would remain within two possessions of overtaking RIT for the lead. Trailing by five, the Spartans would go cold on offense as the Tigers took a 12-point lead with over seven minutes to go in the half. That lead would continue to grow as the half drew to a close as RIT led D'Youville 53-35.
In the second half, the Tigers continued to pull away from the Spartans. RIT took over a 24-point lead and continued to hold a large lead to the end, winning the game 105-67.
