D'Youville College President Addresses Students-Athletes at Welcome Back Event

Buffalo, N.Y.-With over 150 Spartan student-athletes in attendance at the annual Welcome Back Event, D'Youville College President Sister Denise A. Roche addressed the group with praise saying "it is noticed how D'Youville players properly conduct themselves when they play and how they represent the College in a positive manner."

The D'Youville College President will chair the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Presidents' Committee in 2013-14 and spoke to the Spartans about new sportsmanship initiatives put in place by the NCAA and the AMCC.

Spartan student-athletes were also presented with an education session on sickle cell trait and the importance of testing.  That is also a new NCAA directive.

The annual Welcome Back Event also gives D'Youville Athletics staff an opportunity to present new department news and updates on current projects.

Director of Athletics Brian Cavanaugh also addressed the group, encouraging the teams "to find a community service project and take the time to make a difference in the community."
