Buffalo, NY – The 2016 schedule has been released for the D'Youville men's soccer team with sights set on a successful season against a strong blend of competitors.
"I am excited for another very challenging year in the AMCC as well as in our non-conference schedule," said head coach Brendan Murphy. "We will have the opportunity to continue some match-ups that have developed a great tradition, along with adding a few new programs to our schedule and renewing old rivalries from years past."
Kicking off the season will be a new face for the Spartans in Penn State-Harrisburg. D'Youville will host the Lions for their home opener at 2pm at Dobson Field on Saturday, September 3rd.
Following their first game of the season, D'Youville will be on the road for three of their first seven games, including a trip up the I-190 to visit the Buffalo State Bengals. Of their four home games after their home opener the team will face a top opponent in the Daemen Wildcats on Sunday, September 11th, a local Division II program that narrowly defeated D'Youville last season.
D'Youville will begin conference play on Saturday, September 24th as they visit La Roche. They will then host four of their last five games of the season, highlighted by hosting rival Hilbert on October 19th at 7:15pm.
Coach Murphy understands that his team cannot take any team lightly and will have to work hard at least 90 minutes each game to obtain victories.
"We have great respect for every opponent that we will face this year and we expect a high level of competition within each game."
The fresh season brings opportunity for returning and new players to contribute to the team. Murphy and his team are ready to grab hold of the challenge ahead and make D'Youville men's soccer a force to be reckon with.
"We are looking forward with great anticipation to the unique journey that this season will become."
