Men's Soccer Falls to Buffalo State on the Road

Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville men's soccer team stayed in Buffalo for their road game on Friday afternoon as they traveled to Buffalo State, losing to the Bengals 5-0.

D'Youville would make the first threat at scoring 1:27 in to the game. Freshman Marco Ciccarelli (Rochester, NY/Webster-Schroeder) took a shot that went high and kept the game scoreless.

However, Buffalo State would pounce first on the scoreboard just over four minutes into the game. The team then doubled their lead in the 17th minute to make the game 2-0. The half would end with the Bengals leading 2-0.

Like they did in the first half, Buffalo State came out and found the back of the net in the first five minutes, taking a 3-0 lead. In the 61st minute, Pat Mann (Brighton, NY/Brighton) put a shot on frame that would have gotten the team on the board. Richard Maurer (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) then had a shot on net of his own in the 67th minute, but the Bengal keeper made the save.

Buffalo State would add two goals in the final 15 minutes of play and go on to win the game 5-0.

Peter Petruzzo (Clarence, NY/Clarence) earned the start and played the first half while Corey Sikora (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore) came in for the second half.

The men will host their next game on Sunday, September 18th as Alfred State will come to Dobson Field to play at 1pm.
