Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville men's soccer team suffered a loss on Wednesday evening, falling to the Medaille Mavericks by the final score of 6-0.
Medaille scored a pair of goals eight minutes apart in the 14th and 22nd minutes, taking a 2-0 lead. Goalkeeper Peter Petruzzo (Clarence, NY/Clarence) made three saves in the remaining 23 minutes of play to keep the score at 2-0 heading into the half.
Petruzzo made an additional two saves in the first 16 minutes of the second half, keeping his team in the game. However, the Mavericks added a third goal in the 61st minute, adding to their already two-goal lead. In the 74th, 78th and 85th minutes Medaille would score three more goals to build a 6-0 lead and they would go on to win the game by the same score.
Petruzzo made 10 saves in the game, playing all 90 minutes.
D'Youville will host their next game as they play the Mount Aloysius Mounties on Saturday, October 8th at 3:15pm.
