Men's Soccer Gets Shutout at Home

Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to the Medaille Mavericks on Wednesday afternoon at Dobson Field.

Medaille was on the board early in the game, taking a 1-0 lead in the first eight minutes of play. Not much was clicking on offense for the Spartans, but their team defense continued to hold firm after the first half of play. D'Youville only allowed eight total shots in the first as the two teams went into half with Medaille leading 1-0.

The second half was where the Mavericks found a groove on offense. They scored three goals and tallied 16 shots to bring their goal total to four, carrying their lead all the way to the end and defeating the Spartans by the final score of 4-0.

Center back Josh Hammer (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) led the team with three shots in the game. Three other players tallied at least one. In goal, Kyle Dick (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) made eight saves while Juan Rosales (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Village School) three saves. In the final minute of play, Rosales had a header on a corner kick for his first career shot on goal.

The next game for the men comes on Saturday, October 7 as they travel to Mount Aloysius to play the Mounties at 1:00pm.
