Men's Soccer Lose Out on Victory against Fredonia

Fredonia, NY – The D'Youville men's soccer team had a near victory over the Fredonia Blue Devils cut short on Tuesday evening as their 1-0 at the half was for not with the game being canceled due to facility issues.

D'Youville had a strong first half against the Blue Devils. Kyle Lyon (Wilson, NY/Wilson) recorded the first shot on goal for the Spartans that resulted in a save in the 11th minute. However in the 14th minute, Jumale Jumale (Buffalo, NY/DaVinci) scored what would have been his first career goal.

In the 25th minute, center back and captain Josh Hammer (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) left the game with an injury, but freshman Jared Zadzilka (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) stepped in admirably and helped keep Fredonia scoreless in the first half.

Despite their impressive play in the first, the game was called at halftime due to a lighting issue on the field. The Spartans battled hard in the first 45 minutes and were in control of the game against a tough opponent.

The next game for the men comes this Saturday, September 8 as they travel to Nazareth. They will play the Golden Flyers at 6:30pm.
