Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville men's soccer team played their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday evening, falling to the undefeated Buffalo State Bengals by the final score of 3-0.
The game was a physical battle early with both teams fighting to score the first goal of the game. However, the defense was the story of the game early on as the first shot on goals from either team came in the 23rd minute from Buffalo State, but the shot was saved by goalkeeper Kyle Dick (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) to keep the game scoreless.
Just a few minutes later in the 26th minute, the Bengals would net their first of the game to take a 1-0 lead. After their goal, Buffalo State would begin to pick it up on offense and eventually score their second of the half right before the horn sounded in the 45th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Both teams continued to battle in the second half, but Buffalo State brought it on both ends of the field. In the 71st minute, the Bengals scored their third and final goal of the night as they took down the Spartans by the final of 3-0.
Marco Ciccarelli (Rochester, NY/Webster-Schroeder), Noah Steele (Heuvelton, NY/Heuvelton), and Nick Dumond (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) registered the three shots in the game for D'Youville while Dick made eight saves in net.
The next game for the men comes in their conference opener this Saturday, September 21 as they play at Penn State-Altoona at 2:00pm.
