Men's Volleyball Gets Two Super Sunday Wins

Hamburg, NY-D'Youville picked up a pair of three-set wins at a Super Sunday tri-match hosted by Hilbert College.

The Spartans opened the day by beating Penn State Altoona 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) and closed the afternoon with sweep of Hilbert (25-18, 25-14, 30-28).

The wins improve the Spartans to 6-1 overall making this the program's best start since the 1999 season.

Versus Altoona, Chris Temple (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) had a match-high 12 kills followed by Chris Krueger (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) with 9 kills. Alex Johnson (Clarence, NY/Clarence) snared 15 digs and Jay Senozetnik (Eden, NY/Eden) paced the offense with 33 assists.

Against Hilbert, Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) smacked 9 kills and Adam Dean (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was a force at the net with a match-high 5 blocks

D'Youville returns to United Volleyball Conference play next weekend with three matches at Medaille College. Saturday February 9th, D'Youville faces SUNYIT at 3:00 p.m. Sunday February 10th D'Youville faces two nationally ranked teams: Stevens (NJ) at 11:00 a.m. and SUNY New Paltz at 3:00 p.m.
