Buffalo, NY- Men's volleyball squared off against two teams ranked in the top ten of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll. Both were United Volleyball Conference league matches.
In the first match, D'Youville took the first set against sixth-ranked Stevens (NJ) 26-24. The Spartans had one set-point opportunity in the second set and failed to convert losing 26-24. D'Youville dropped the next two sets by the score of 25-16.
Chris Temple (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) had 14 kills followed by eight kills apiece from Adam Dean (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and Chris Krueger (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg). Krueger also had a team-high five blocks and 10 digs.
In the final match, ninth-ranked SUNY New Paltz rolled the Spartans in the three sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-16). Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) with a team-high 9 digs.
In the New Paltz match Jay Senozetnik (Eden, NY/Eden) dished his 3,000th career assist. Senozetnik joined John Kofmehl (2006-2009) and Gregg Rosowski (1998-2001) as the only Spartan men's players to top the three grand mark for their careers.
D'Youville (7-3, 2-2 UVC) will host Penn State Behrend in the College Center Gym February 13th at 7:00 p.m.
