Men's Volleyball Swept at No. 9 Medaille

Buffalo, N.Y.-D'Youville was hampered by slow starts and then failed to finish on its comeback attempts in a three-set loss at ninth-ranked Medaille College. Set scores were 25-21, 25-19, 25-17.

D'Youville opened the contest on the wrong side of 6-1 run. The Spartans rallied, and pulled to within one point on two different occasions.

Another tight start in the second set gave way to another mid-game rally to make it close.

The third set was a replay of the previous two. D'Youville trailed 7-0, chipped away, and twice got to within two points of the lead.

"You can't start play in each game the way we did tonight and expect a different outcome,"  said Spartan head coach John Hutton. "Then we made too many mistakes when we did have a say in the outcome"

Chris Krueger (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) had a team-high 9 kills followed by Adam Dean (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) with 6 kills.

D'Youville (7-7, 2-5 UVC) has lost six-straight, five to nationally ranked opponents, and all in conference play.
