Temple Records 1,000th Career Kill on Senior Night

Buffalo, N.Y.-Twelfth-ranked Medaille College won a tight first set 29-27, then cruised in the final two 25-19, 25-19 to win the match in the College Center Gym.

D'Youville had two set-point opportunities to win the opening frame. There were 16 ties and 8 lead changes in the first set, and then only 1 tie and 1 lead change in the final two games.

In the second set, D'Youville's Chris Temple (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) recorded his 1,000th career kill, becoming the eighth Spartan in the program's 17-year history to reach that milestone. The senior right-side hitter finished the match with 5 kills to boost his current career total to 1,003 moving him into a tie for eight on the school's career list (with Jeremy Sadjak 2008-2011). Temple also had a team-high 7 digs and 1 block and 1 service ace.

Senior Chris Krueger (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) totaled a team-high 10 kills for D'Youville . Senior setter Jay Senozetnik (Eden, NY/Eden) dished a match-high 22 assists to go with 4 kills, 3 services aces, 6 digs, and 2 blocks

Also playing in their final home game for D'Youville: Nick Vitello (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) with 2 kills, 2 service aces, and 3 digs. Adam Dean (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) with 3 kills and 1 block.

"We gave it a run in the first set," said D'Youville Head coach John Hutton. "Bottom line, we just didn't make the plays."

Medaille (17-14) got a match-high 14 kills from Erin Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) and 11 kills and a match-high 5 blocks from Trevor Barrett (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home). The Mavericks have won four-straight.

D'Youville will close the 2013 season with a tri-match April 6 at Penn State Altoona with Penn State Behrend. Match times are 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
