Cambridge, MA-D'Youville took to the road for weekend play against United Volleyball Conference opponents at MIT.
The Spartans opened the day with a tall order, facing off against second-ranked SUNY New Paltz. D'Youville was swept in three sets (25-15, 25-10, 25-13).
D'Youville closed the day with a loss to Vassar College. Game scores were 25-16, 26-24, 25-16.
Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) smacked a team-high 11 kills and a .308 attack percentage. Singer tied a career-high with five blocks and had a team-high two service aces. Johnson was top defensive Spartan with a match-high nine digs.
"I know it doesn't reflect in some of the scores, but we played very well today," said Spartans' Head coach John Hutton. "I am encouraged by the steps we took today and with the enthusiasm and effort put forth by our players."
D'Youville (2-6, 0-3 UVC) plays the event host, #12 MIT, tomorrow (Feb. 9) at 12:30 p.m. before heading home.
