Men's Volleyball Splits Friday Games Against Local Rivals

Hamburg, NY - The D'Youville Men's Volleyball Team split a pair of games between local rivals Hilbert College and Medaille College on Friday, defeating the Hilbert Hawks 3-0 and losing to the Medaille Mavericks 3-0.

In their first game against the Hawks, D'Youville won in three sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-21. Freshman Brock Tetreault (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) led the team in kills with 10, followed by Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) with 9. Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) added 7 kills, with Logan Krass (Oswego, NY/Oswego) tallying 3 and Evan Singer (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) getting 1. Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) led the team with 28 assists and 3 service aces, chipping in 5 kills. Steve Goedtel (Eden, NY/Eden) had 2 service aces in the game.

Cawthorn led the team with 7 digs, with Busha behind him having 5. Tetreault and Alex Johnson (Lancaster, NY/Clarence) tied with 4 digs each. Singer led the way with 2 blocks and Goedtel also had 3 digs.

In their second game of the afternoon, D'Youville fell to the Mavericks by the scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-11. Tetreault led had 6 kills for the team lead. Goedtel had 5 for second on the team. Cawthorn recorded 3 kills, and Singer, Busha and Loos all also tallying kills. Busha led the team with 16 assists. 

Goedtel had 1 service ace to lead the team. Tetreault and Busha tied for the team with 3 digs each. Johnson, Cawthorn and Goedtel recorded digs for the team during the game. 

The next games for the men come Saturday, March 21st at 3pm against NYU in the College Center Gym after Hilbert plays NYU at 1pm. Then on Sunday, March 22nd, D'Youville will play Carthage at 12:30pm.
