Men Lose Back-to-Back on Friday to Continue Slide

Elmira, NY – The D'Youville Men's Volleyball Team couldn't correct their recent string of losing performances and were defeated by Nazareth College 3-0 and the host Elmira College 3-0 on Friday.

Nazareth took all three sets by the scores of 25-19, 15-14 and 25-23. Brock Tetreault (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) was the team leader in kills with 7. Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) and Steve Goedtel (Eden, NY/Eden) each had 4 kills, with Busha also leading the team in assists with 5. Alex Johnson (Lancaster, NY/Clarence) led the team in digs with 9, followed by Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) who had 5.

In the second game of the day, D'Youville faced a similar fate. Elmira defeated the Spartans in three sets, 25-17, 32-30 and 25-16.

Tetreault again led the team with 7 kills. Evan Singer (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) tied for third with 4 kills each, right behind Loos who had 5. Cawthorn also recorded a team high 6 digs. Collin McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) contributed a dig to the team.

The men will look to halt their current slide on Saturday, as they play against Baruch and UC Santa Cruz.
