Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville men's volleyball team won their second match in-a-row and third of four on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Keuka Wolfpack by the final score of 3-1.
Keuka was behind D'Youville early in the first set. The Spartans held an 11-6 but the Wolfpack would score four unanswered points and take a 11-10 lead. D'Youville retook their lead at 15-12, but Keuka again came back and took a 21-17 lead. This time the Spartans couldn't overcome their deficit and lost the first set 25-20.
D'Youville started off the second set with a 13-10 lead. Keuka tied the set at 13 before giving up nine of the next 10 points. The Wolfpack made a slight comeback, but the Spartans would go on to win the second set 25-20.
In the third set, the Spartans once again came out to a lead. D'Youville would go on to win the third set 25-22. Looking to close out the match, the Spartans would take an 11-9 lead over the Wolfpack. The two teams were tied at 18 before Keuka took a 23-21 lead, nearly closing out the set and forcing a fifth. However, D'Youville would come back and take the fourth set by the final of 25-23 and win the match 3-1.
For the fifth time in the last six matches, sophomore Brock Tetreault (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) recorded double-digit kills. Tetreault recorded 14 kills to go with five digs. Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) recorded 11 kills with Alex Ritter (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) adding 13 and a team high nine digs. Loos also had a team high five total blocks. Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) once again led the team in assists with 42.
The men will return home for their next match on Wednesday, February 24th at 7pm to play the Medaille Mavericks.
