Chambersburg, PA – The D'Youville men's volleyball team won two of three games while at Wilson this weekend, defeating Wilson and Lancaster Bible while losing to Penn State-Altoona.
In their lone game on Friday evening, the men defeated the host Wilson Phoenix 3-0 with the set scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-13. Sophomore Brock Tetreault (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) led the team with 10 kills, followed by three each from seniors Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and Evan Singer (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South). Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) led the team with seven digs and Ryan Kilijanski (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) followed with six.
Match number two of the weekend saw the Spartans fall to the Penn State-Altoona Lions 3-1 with the set scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-22. Tetreault again led the team in kills, this time with 13. Alex Ritter (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) was second on the team with 11 kills, followed by Loos with 10.
Kilijanski had a team high 12 digs, with Tetreault and Ritter chipping in with 11 each. Senior Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) added six digs and three kills with Cawthorn adding nine digs and Singer nine kills.
In the second match of the day and third of the weekend, the Spartans defeated Lancaster Bible 3-0 with the set scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-23. Loos and Ritter tied with a team high six kills, followed by Tetreault and Singer with five each. Kilijanski led the team again with 10 digs. Collin McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) had two service aces to lead the team.
With their two wins over the weekend, D'Youville moved to above .500 with their NEAC record (4-3). The men will play next in a week on Saturday, March 12th at 2pm against Wells and 6pm against Keuka, both at SUNYIT.
