Men's Volleyball Takes Down Hilbert In Final Meeting of Season

Hamburg, NY – The D'Youville men's volleyball team defeated the Hilbert Hawks in their final meeting of the season on Thursday evening by the final score of 3-1.

D'Youville took the first set of the match 25-18. Hilbert would tie the game in the second set 26-24, but the Spartans would respond with a 25-18 win in the third set. In the fourth set, D'Youville would finish off the Hawks by the score of 25-19, winning the match 3-1.

The Spartans had three players who would record double-digit kills. Brock Tetreault (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) led the team with 12 kills in the match. Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and Alex Ritter (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) each recorded 10 kills. Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) added nine kills.

Freshman Ryan Kilijanski (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) was the only Spartan with double-digit digs, recording 12. Busha added nine, with Tetreault adding eight. Collin McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) led the team with 45 assists and six service aces. Evan Singer (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) had five kills while Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) had six digs. Zachery Bochacki (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) had one kill.

The men will wrap up their regular season as they head back to Hilbert to play Lancaster Bible on Friday, April 1st at 8pm. D'Youville will then play Wilson and Penn State-Altoona on Saturday.
