Hamburg, NY – Following their win over Hilbert on Thursday evening, the D'Youville men's volleyball team won their second straight with a 3-1 win over Lancaster Bible on Friday evening.
D'Youville took the first set 25-14 over Lancaster Bible, but the Chargers evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-20 win in the second set. The Spartans would respond with a 25-20 win of their own in set number three and then closed out the match with a 25-22 win in set number four
The team had a balanced attack against the Chargers with four players recording at least eight kills. Senior Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) led the team with 12 kills and three total blocks. Evan Singer (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and Brock Tetreault (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) each recorded nine kills with Brett Cawthorn (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis) adding eight.
Freshmen Ryan Kilijanski (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) and Alex Ritter (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) led the team with five digs each and Collin McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) had a team high 41 assists. Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) added four kills and two total blocks.
The Spartans will close out their regular season schedule on Saturday, April 2nd with two games at Hilbert. The first game of the day is at 1pm against Wilson and their second game against Penn State-Altoona will be played at 5pm.
