Hamburg, NY – The D'Youville men's volleyball team took their second straight match against Hilbert to begin the season, defeating the Hawks by the final score of 3-2.
D'Youville took the first set against the Hawks in dominating fashion with the score of 25-11. However, Hilbert would respond by taking the next two sets 25-23 and 25-17. Facing a match loss with another down set, the Spartans would respond with a 25-15 fourth set victory, forcing a deciding fifth set. The Spartans were able to win their second consecutive set over the Hawks by the score of 15-8, winning the match by the score of 3-2.
Sophomore Zach Bochacki (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) led the team with 13 kills, adding two total blocks. Logan Krass (Oswego, NY/Oswego) added 10 kills of his own to go with a team high five total blocks. Freshman Chance MacDowell (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield) had a team high 23 digs, with Collin McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) recording a team high 37 assists and seven service aces.
Pat Stroh (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) had nine kills with five digs and tree service aces. Ed Kerber (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) added five total blocks, with six digs and four service aces. Ryan Kilijanski (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) add six kills and seven digs.
The next match for the men will come this Friday, Saturday 10 as they head to Elmira. Match time is set for 8pm.
