Men's Volleyball Drops First Match of Weekend at Elmira

Elmira, NY – The D'Youville men's volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night at Elmira Soaring Eagles by the final score of 3-0.

Elmira was the dominate team in the first set, winning 25-12. They had a similar strong performance in the second set with a 25-14 victory. Continuing their impressive play from the first two sets, the Soaring Eagles would finish the sweep of the Spartans in the third set, winning 25-21 and the match 3-0.

Pat Stroh (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) led the team with 10 kills in the match, adding a service ace and one block. Ed Kerber (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) added six kills with a team high three blocks, while Chance MacDowell (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield) recorded the team high in digs. Collin McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) led the team in service aces and assists.

The men will play their next two matches on Saturday, February 11. D'Youville will play Southern Vermont at 12pm and Sage at 2pm, both games hosted by Elmira.
