Hamburg, NY - The D'Youville men's volleyball team suffered losses to the Wilson Phoenix and Penn State-ALtoona Lions on Saturday afternoon by the final scores of 3-2 and 3-0.
Wilson took an early advantage in the first match of the day, winning the first set 25-22. The Spartans came back to win the second set 25-21, but the Phoenix went up 2-1 after a 25-22 win in the third set. D'Youville would bounce back to win the fourth set 25-18, forcing a deciding fifth set where they would narrowly lose 15-13 and lose the match 3-2.
Three players recorded double-digit kills in the match. As he has done all season long, Pat Stroh (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) led the team with 22 kills and added a team high four service aces. Ryan Kilijanski (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) and Logan Krass (Oswego, NY/Oswego) each had 12 kills and combined for three digs.
The Lions took down the Spartans in three sets in the second match of the day, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-19. Stroh once again led the team in kills with 16, adding three service aces. McMahon totaled 28 assists while Zeiger had a team high 10 digs. Krass added six kills and three blocks in the match.
D'Youville's next match comes this Thursday at 7pm as the Spartans travel to Medaille.
