Elmira, NY- The D'Youville men's volleyball team fell to MIT 3-1 and Elmira College 3-0 on Saturday, March 16.
Versus MIT, Ryan Kilijanski (Lewiston, NY/ West Seneca West) led the team with 12 kills and added ten digs. Zac Bochacki (West Seneca, NY/ West Seneca West) followed with 11 kills, while Pat Stroh (Hamburg, NY/ Hamburg) added nine. Stroh added a team high of 17 digs and three blocks as well. The Spartans battled 15-25, 25-22, 25-28, and 22-25 in the match,
In their second match of the day, D'Youville fell 3-0 going 12-25, 19-25 and 14-25. In the first set, Elmira took an early 0-8 lead before D'Youville could get a point on the board. The Spartans could not make up the deficit.
In their second set, the teams traded points; neither team more than four points in the lead. After being up 15-18 Elmira broke away and took the set 25-19.
In the final set, D'Youville started with the lead and was up 4-1. The Golden Eagles made a comeback and eventually took the lead at 16-8. It was all Elmira from there only ;etting the Spartans get six more points and winning 25-14.
Stroh led the team with five kills. Ali Khadra (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and Kilijanski both added four kills. Karl Jauch (Lockport, NY/ Starpoint) had a team hihg of eight assists, while Evan Oliver (Williamsville, NY/ Williamsville South) led with six digs.
D'Youville comes back to the College Center on Friday, March 22 to host a tri-match with Daemen and Nazareth at 3 PM.
