Geneva, N.Y.-D'Youville cross-country teams sported their first top-ten finishes of the 2013 season at today's Hobart and William Smith Invitational.
In the women's race, sophomore Emily Quast (Lockport, NY/Lockport) crossed the line in the 10th place out of the 68 runners competing with a six-kilometer time of 26:43.3.
Maria Fusco (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was 17th overall with a time of 27:15.3 and the Spartans were fifth in the team scoring with a total of 108.
In the men's race, Matthew Silver (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) didn't break a school record today, something he did in his first two events of the season, but the freshman did record in his first career top-ten finish. Silver was 9th out of 77 runners and completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 28:45.5.
Jordan Johnson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) was 25th in placing (34th overall) with a time of 31:50.8 and Christopher Rumpl (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) was 27th in placing (38th overall) with a time of 32:15.2.
The Spartans were 5th in team scoring with a total of 131.
