Men's Cross Country Races to Fifth Place Finish at Fredonia Invitational

Fredonia, NY - The D'Youville men's cross country team started off the season with a fifth place finish as they competed in the Fredonia Invitational Saturday morning.

Picking up where he left off last season, Brian Buttaggi (Penfield, NY/Webster Schroeder) was the top runner for the Spartans with a time of 18:48. Buttaggi's pace led him to a 27th place finish.

Freshman Jakob McDaneld (Silver Creek, NY/Silver Creek) was just behind Buttaggi with a time of 20:22. Following closely behind McDaneld was David Braun (Okinawa, Japan/Kadena) with a time of 20:44.

Christopher Rumpl (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) and Matt Buttaggi (Penfield, NY/Webster Schroeder) rounded out the top five for the Spartans.

The next race for D'Youville will come in two weeks at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational.
