Cross Country Completes Fredonia Invitational

Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville cross country teams each took part in the Fredonia Invitational on Saturday morning in their first meet of the season.

The men took fourth overall in the 5k. Brian Buttaggi (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) was the top runner for the Spartans with a time of 19:12, followed by Andrew Tantalo (Greece, NY/Home School) with a time of 19:42. David Oswald (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was the third D'Youville runner with a time under 20 minutes as he finished his first meet with a time of 19:51.

As for the women, the team took third overall in their 5k. Kathryn Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) took the top spot with a time of 21:25, good for 14 overall. Newcomers Rachel Luczak (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata) and Rachel Johnson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) each ran under 23 minutes with times of 22:19 and 22:32 respectively.

Both the men and women will race once again in two weeks as they will run in the Hilbert Preview Meet on Saturday, September 16.
