AMCC Championships Conclude as D'Youville Men & Women Finish in Top Four

Irving, NY - The D'Youville cross country teams wrapped up their 2017 seasons with a pair of top four finishes at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate College Championships on Saturday afternoon, with the women taking third and the men taking fourth.

Freshman Rachel Luczak (Lancaster, NY/Immaculata) and sophomore Kathryn Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) were the top two runners for the women, finishing 12th and 13th respectively. Luczak's time of 25:49 and Piraino's time of 26:01 earned them spots on the AMCC All-Conference team. 

Both Kaitlyn Furtado (Acushnet, MA/Fairhaven) and Stephanie Lisiecki (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) ran times under 28:30, with Callan Smith (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Rachel Johnson (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) each coming in under 30:00. Jenna Donati (Depew, NY/Depew) finished just over the 30:00 mark to help the Spartans finish third overall.

Rounding out the runners for the Spartans were Mary Blackley (Lockport, NY/Blackley Academy), Alison Gareis (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary), and Danielle Couch (Wheatfield, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield). They each finished out their seasons strong with solid times.

Leading the way for the men were David Oswald (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and Brian Buttaggi (Penfield, NY/Webster-Schroeder). Oswald finished 17th overall with a time of 30:32 as the top male D'Youville runner, with Buttaggi finishing with a time of 31:47 and 20th overall.

Andrew Tantalo (Greece, NY/Home School), Zac Bochacki (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West), and Joseph Frailey (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) each finished in the top 30 runners. All three runners finished under 34:00 and were very important to the team's finish.

The final three runners of Edward Apen (East Aurora, NY/Home School), Matthew Buttaggi (Penfield, NY/Webster-Schroeder), and Logan Krass (Oswego, NY/Oswego) each had good finishes to the season. Every runner on both teams put forth great efforts in the season finale.
