Grand Island, NY - The D'Youville men's cross country team opened up their season on Saturday morning by placing second overall at the Buffalo State Invitational at Beaver Island State Park.
As he did all of 2018, senior Patrick Moran (Wheatfield, NY/NCCC) set the pace for the Spartans as he finished second overall in the 5k. His time of 17:01 was 0:44 better than the next runner and was just 0:06 off the first place finisher.
David Oswald (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) followed Moran with a time of 20:46 and Tylor Muscarella (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo Central) coming in at 21:11 as the two took 11th and 12th overall. Zach Bochacki (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) placed 14th wit ha time of 21:45.
Edward Apen (East Aurora, NY/Home School), Matthew Buttaggi (Penfield, NY/Webster-Schroeder), Dominick Harris (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West), and Anthony Scallio (Elkridge, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) all ran strong races in their first invitational of the season, rounding out the Spartan's roster.
The next race for the men comes in two weeks as they run in the Penn State-Behrend Invitational on Friday, September 13.
