Softball Closes Florida Trip with Two Wins

Clermont, FL-Sara Persutti (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East) smacked a triple that drove in the tying and winning runs sending D'Youville to an 8-7 extra-inning win over Fredonia State in their final game of the Florida trip.

"We finished the spring beak trip playing really hard and as a team," said Spartan's Head coach Angie Churchill.

D'Youville opened the day with a 10-4 win over Colby College (ME). Shannon Sutton (Lykens, PA/Upper Dauphin) went 3-4 at the plate with a double, triple, and 4 RBI.  Freshman pitcher Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) picked her first collegiate victory.

The Spartans return home and are scheduled to open the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference portion of the schedule March 30 versus Penn State Altoona.  Doubleheader tart time at the Amherst Northtown Center is 1:00 p.m.
