Williamsville, N.Y. - Finally...the D'Youville College softball team got to play in their home area. The Spartans made their local debut by taking two games from AMCC opponent and local rival Medaille College. This is the first time D'Youville has played since returning from their Florida trip March 26.
In the first game, freshman pitcher Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) recorded her first career shutout and struck out 11 in the Spartan's 7-0 win. It might also be the first career no-hitter for McHenry. A scoring decision is waiting to be verified.
In the second game, D'Youville pounded out 14 hits and completed the sweep with a 13-5 win.
MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) had a big day going 5-8 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 5 runs scored.
Shannon Sutton (Lykens, PA/Upper Dauphin) was 3-6 with 3 RBI on the day.
"This is a great way to start conference play," said D'Youville Head coach Angie Churchill. "I am really proud of how hard we fought and our offense was great today."
D'Youville will travel to Mount Aloysius April 6 for an AMCC twin-bill. Start time is at 1:00 p.m.
