Softball Defeated in Both Games on Day Two of Florida Trip

Clermont, FL - Softball was defeated in both games on day two of their Florida trip.

In the first game, Elmhurst College (IL) took an early 1-0 lead. D'Youville answered in the top of the fourth with an Ashley Colan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island)sacrifice fly and RBI singles from MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) and Lydia Monin (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School)to take a 3-1 lead. For sophomore Monin it was her first career hit and RBI

Elmhurst took the lead right back with five runs the bottom of the fourth and those runs stood up keeping the Spartans were on the wrong end of a 6-3 decision.

Game two saw D'Youville pitcher Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) record her second complete game of the season but the Spartans could not break through with any runs and were defeated 2-0 by Bethel University (MN). Monin went 2-2 and also drew a walk.

It was a good day at the plate for Lauren DeVantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield). The sophomore first baseman went 2-3 in game one and 3-3 in game two. DeVantier has opened the season batting .636 in the team's first four games.

Tomorrow at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida the Spartans face Rochester Institute of Technology at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 11:00 a.m. versus St. Thomas (MN).
